At the Pioneer Museum, there’s more than one way to make history happen. Our volunteers bring their own skills, interests and curiosity — whether that means working with antique machinery, building miniature worlds, serving in the Tea House, caring for artifacts, helping at events or bringing history to life for visitors. Whether you have a few hours once in a while or are looking for a regular place to lend a hand, there’s a place for you here.

Volunteering at the Museum looks a little different for everyone. Some of us like to fix things. Some love sharing stories. Some would happily spend an afternoon building a miniature house, serving pie or helping a child discover something new.

Artifacts & Stories Love old things and the stories they tell? Every artifact has a story, and our volunteers help make sure those stories aren't lost. Shop & Machinery Like to get your hands dirty? There’s always something to repair, restore or keep running around here. Tea House Like feeding people and making them feel at home? The Tea House is all about good food, friendly faces and making visitors feel welcome. Events & Festivals Love being part of the action? Our events and festivals are some of the busiest — and most fun — days at the Museum. Models & Makers Like to tinker? Some of the best museum projects start with a few tools, a little imagination and someone willing to figure out how things work.
